Blakeney is looking for an intern to join our award-winning integrated communications team to work across a range of clients. The successful candidate will be part of a close-knit team comprising former Special Advisors, party staff, civil servants, researchers, journalists, and campaigners. This is an exciting opportunity to kick-start your career in corporate communications and PR, with a varied and rewarding workload that will prepare you for any future role.

The Blakeney internship programme will provide you with a well-rounded experience of integrated communications, in particular corporate comms, and PR, within a fast-growing and ambitious team. We pride ourselves on being a highly creative, dynamic and results-focused consultancy.

The internship will last for a minimum of six months and could potentially lead to a full-time role for the successful candidate. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in or knowledge of UK media and politics and be looking to start a career in communications.

You will:

Skills & Competencies required

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject
  • Strong knowledge and interest in the UK media and political landscape, as well as a familiarity with news coverage from a range of sources - how messages are best shaped and communicated across both old and new media
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Ability to manage multiple issues and deadlines
  • Entrepreneurial and creative approach to problem-solving
  • Confident research abilities
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic

The role

  • Research and writing briefing materials
  • Providing political, media and social media monitoring for clients
  • Taking part in brainstorms to come up with creative campaign ideas
  • Contributing to the drafting of stakeholder maps and client updates
  • Monitoring the media for key developments relating to clients

: £1,800 per month (London Living Wage)

Length of Contract: 6 months
